Home again home again

There is a tiny cupboard in the room that I grew up in. Inside it I keep my toy walrus, dried flowers, and the machine I found first in my dreams – then years later at a market in India. On the bottom shelf, wrapped in an old silk, is the deck of tarot cards I got long ago. I haven’t touched them in years, but tonight, the night sky was thick with thunder. So I lit a honey candle and I shuffled. The lightening told me which cards to pick.
